Hallelujah-You have to try LUS for curly hair!
My blog is mostly about Napa and fun things do here, but sometimes I feel compelled to share my opinion on trips, books, movies or even beauty products that I am excited about! I love that blogging gives me a platform to just share whatever is on my mind, and my audience can choose to read and take my word, or just scroll on past. So read on … especially if you have curly or wavy hair, or share this if you know someone who could benefit. This post is not just for girls by the way...all you guys out there who are blessed with curls, read this!
My entire life I have dealt with unruly curly hair. I have never really been able to make the curls behave. I had pretty much given up. I have an entire vanity filled with all kinds of mousses, gels, and conditioners that promise to help, but none ever quite do the trick. Most of the time I just put the mess in a ponytail because I can’t be bothered. On special occasions I get it blown out at Whirlwind in downtown Napa and I have elegant, straight hair but only for a day or so. I really hated my curls!
Recently, the Official Peloton Member FB group had a post that caught my eye. (With over 225,000 members on that group, I scroll through a lot of random stuff and sometimes there are very useful posts!) The post was from a woman, asking other users what they do about their curly hair. There must have been hundreds of comments and suggestions for her. One brand that I had never heard of kept being validated throughout the thread, by many different users who swear by it. The name of the brand, is LUS, and stands for Love Ur Self. It is a bit of a silly name, but I guess it is an incredibly popular brand in the curly haried world! How had I not heard of it before? Some of the users were going so far as to say it is a life-changing product and that they can even go up to 5 days without shampooing, and remember these comments are coming from sweaty Peloton cyclists.
Well, I had to try it, and the results are in. I love this product and I love my curls now! It is now my duty and mission to help others who may have been in the same situation. I even made a little video that I uploaded to Youtube. I hate myself on video but I figure if it will help one curly haired desperate soul out there, I am willing to make the sacrifice.
First of all, the trick requires only 3 products. A shampoo, a conditioner, and a leav-in product (they call it the All In One). The shampoo and conditioner are the same for all hair types but you have to choose from wavy, curly or kinky for the leave-in. I am closer to wavy than curly so I ordered the Wavy product.
Here is how it works. Shampoo and condition like you would with any other shampoo and conditioner. Brush or comb while wet. Then, while the hair is still wet (very wet) you apply the leave-in. Dry off the excess water with a towel, then diffuse or let air dry. The leave-in product magically helps the curls become individual curls and they are just better! Now here is the truly awesome part. For most curly haired girls, the next day is going to be a big mess again. Normally it would just go into a ponytail...but all you need to do is spray your hair with water to reactivate the conditioner. You can do this the next day or as needed to freshen the curls and even add a bit more conditioner by day 4 or even 5. It has been a real game changer for me (and now my daughter is hooked too). Of course you will still see me in a pony tail . . . a lot. I really rock the pony tail…however, at least now I know that if I want to, I can get those curls to obey. Finally!
