The Donum Estate - an art and wine lovers dream

It is really NOT easy to get an appointment at this very sought after high end winery in Carneros. High priced, limited production wines, combined with one of the largest contemporary sculpture collections of the region might be why! To come wine tasting here, you are probably going to have to pass an interview to show that you are adequately financed and intending to purchase. There is no hard sell on the wines, because they really don’t need to convince you by the time you have made it there. If anything we almost got the unpleasant impression from our host that he was doing us a favor by granting us permission to buy from him.

The visit begins with an extensive tour of the estate, walking quite a distance to observe the sculptures up close (wear flats!) followed by a private tasting paired with bites prepared by the in-house chef.
